On November 11, the feast of St. Martin of Tours, the Holy Father Francis appointed bishop of Ambanja, a diocese in the northwest of the country, our confrere Fr. Donatien Francis Randriamalala of the Province of Madagascar. This election is a great reason for joy for our Congregation because we can welcome it and consider it as a gesture of esteem and appreciation from the part of Pope Francis for the missionary work carried out so far by our confreres on the Red Island.
The episcopal ordination took place in Ambanja on January 15, 2023.
We entrust our confrere and his episcopal ministry to the maternal attention of Mary, mother and messenger of divine mercy.
On December 29, 2022, there was a change of rector at the La Salette Shrine.
After six years, Fr. Antoni Skałba MS (Polish Province) ended his ministry.
The new rector is Fr. Daniel Ramanantsitohaina MS (French Province), a native of Madagascar.
Mass was presided over by the new bishop of the Grenoble-Viene diocese, Bishop Jean-Marc Eychenne.
Also present was Fr. Silvano Marisa MS, Superior General of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette.
